How to Care for Your Swimsuit So It Lasts Much Longer | SOLAZ SWIM

A SOLAZ SWIM piece is made to last. But like any quality garment, it requires basic care that makes the difference between it lasting one season or five. Here's exactly how to treat it so it arrives at every beach looking brand new.

After each use: rinsing is key

The most important step – and the easiest to skip – is rinsing your swimsuit with cold, fresh water immediately after use. Both chlorine from pools and salt from the sea degrade the elastic fibers of the fabric over time. A 30-second rinse under the tap can triple the lifespan of your garment.

This applies to all pieces: from the Confetti Top to the Cola Briefs. Without exception.

How to wash correctly

Always hand wash. The washing machine cycle, even if it seems gentle, can damage seams, deform cups, and irreversibly deteriorate elastic. Use cold water and a neutral soap or a specific detergent for swimwear.

Rub gently with your fingers – never with a brush or by rubbing the fabric against itself. Pay special attention to areas with more contact with bronzer or sunscreen, which can stain and deteriorate if left unwashed.

Drying: always in the shade

The sun dries quickly, yes. But it also discolors and degrades lycra at an accelerated rate. Always dry your garments in the shade, laid flat on a surface or hung without stretching. Never in the dryer and never folded while wet.

For rashguards like the Dexter Rashguard Yellow, hang from the bottom hem – never from the shoulders – to prevent them from losing their shape.

Storage between seasons

When it's time to store your swimwear until next season, make sure it's completely clean and dry. Store them in a cool place away from direct light. Avoid folding them with metal zippers or other garments that could mark them.

A useful tip: store each set together – top and bottom from the same collection in the same bag. That way, when the season arrives, you have the complete look ready at once.

What you definitely should avoid

Sitting on rough surfaces (cement, unsanded wood, rocks) while wearing your swimsuit creates micro-tears in the fabric that over time turn into holes or visible wear. A sarong or towel underneath is always a good idea – and adds to the look. Our Pareo Ron Cola is perfect for this.

With this basic care, your SOLAZ SWIM garments will be ready to accompany you from beach to beach for many seasons. Still don't have your favorite set? Explore the women's collection and the men's collection.
